A WARM WELCOME AWAITS YOU AT OUR CLUB
The Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club is situated in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland and offers a unique golf experience with breathtaking panoramic views over the Cromarty Firth and hills around Ben Wyvis and far beyond.
Originally a 9 hole course laid out by twice Open Championship winner Willie Park (Jr.) it was extended by the Grand Old Man of Golf – Tom Morris to its current 18 hole layout.
Described as a ‘hidden Gem in the Highlands’ by Peter Alliss, it is one of the most scenic courses anywhere in Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, why not come and see for yourself, we promise you a warm welcome and a golf course that will entice you back again and again.
A Brief History
Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club was founded as far back as 1888. The course lies in Ulladale on the Cromartie Estate and is situated above the historic Victorian village centre of Strathpeffer Spa.
Originally the course was played over 9 holes and laid out by Willie Park (Jr.), a professional from Mussleburgh who won the Open Championship in 1887 and 1889.
At the turn of the century the Club decided to extend to 18 holes. Tom Morris of St.Andrews “the grand old man of golf” was brought in specially to lay it out. Further improvements were in hand with the redesigning of the inward half in 1907-08 although the location of the greens is virtually unaltered since then.
We have made a short ‘Introduction’ video to Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club featuring some spectacular aerial footage which you can view by clicking below.
Visiting today, you will find a course that retains much of the original character designed by Willie Park (Jr.) and Old Tom Morris and after your round the Clubhouse beckons where you will find a traditional Scottish welcome and some good cooking with a cool drink or a drop of something stiffer to help you recover.
Reflect in the comfort of the Clubhouse on a round which we are sure you will have enjoyed and start planning your next visit. But before you go we invite you to leave a comment in our visitor book or use our Feedback form..
Until further notice Preferred Lies are now in place on the fairways.
Lift clean and place no nearer the hole.
By modern standards the course might seem shorter than the average and suggest an easy round with plenty of birdie opportunities. But distance isn’t everything and Willie Park (Jr.) and Old Tom Morris knew exactly how to create a course that still provides a true test of golf even with the advantages of today’s modern equipment and technology.
With the first hole featuring one of the largest drops from tee to green anywhere in Scotland and with 7 par 3’s, undulating fairways and some tricky sloping greens it has all the components to provide an enjoyable test of your golfing skills. Coupled with a unique course are the stunning views to be had at several of the holes which provide panoramic views across the surrounding countryside.
